Free Maraca Crochet Amigurmi Pattern
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN A MARACA BUT DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CROCHET, YOU CAN BUY ONE AT MY ETSY SHOP: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24155650
To make this maraca, you will need:
Worsted weight yarn in brown and either green or red
Size F/5 (3.75 mm) crochet hook
Plastic easter egg filled with beans
Fiberfill or stuffing of your choice
They are 5 and a half inches tall, and 6 and a half inches in circumference at the widest point.
INSTRUCTIONS
You are basically making an egg cozy here. The egg will be "pointy" side down.
Using the “F” hook and green or red yarn
R1: Ch 2, 8 sc in second chain from hook
R2: 2 sc in each sc around (16 sts)
R3: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st* around (24 sts)
R4: Sc around (24 sts)
R5: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (32 sts)
Sc around until it goes about halfway down the egg. This was approximately 3 rounds for me.
R6: *sc 2 tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (24 sts)
Sc around until you are covering about 3/4 the egg. Be sure to put the egg in the "cozy" before the opening is to small.
R7: *sc 2 tog, 1 sc in next st* around (16 sts)
R8: Sc around (16 sts)
R9: *sc 2 tog, 1 sc in next 2 sts* around (12 sts)
R10: Sc around (12 sts)
Switch to brown yarn
R11-13: Sc around (12)
R14: *Sc 2 in next st, 1 sc in next 3 sts* around (15 sts)
R15-24: Sc around (15)
Stuff firmly
Finishing off: Sc 2 tog around, then when you have about 8 sts left, slip stitch the hole closed. Weave in ends. There you have it! Now shake it, shake it, shake it!
