Don't try this at home...

... It doesn't work! Guess what we did tonight? Try to make our own bubble mixture! :] We used dish soap, sugar, glue, and, of course, water. It didn't work. I mean obviously! You don't see any pretty pictures of shiny bubbles, do you? ;]

Duct Tape is sticky

But I bet you already knew that. I attempted to make a wallet out of duct tape last Sunday, and I had duct tape everywhere! Well, not everywhere, because I am a really neat person (although you wouldn't guess that by looking at my room.) and I would clean it up immediately. But it sure seemed like it was everywhere. It sticks to ANYTHING.
Anyway, take a look at the finished project:
Duct Tape Wallet
You can sort of tell it was my first project with duct tape... It's not the best made duct tape wallet in the world, that's for sure. I used this tutorial: click here!!!

Here's some duct tape "fabric":

Here's what my scarf looks like so far, I am using a size Q hook, which is HUGE!!! :]

Last day to enter my giveaway!

Quick! Learn more about my giveaway here!

So today I went shopping and went to the library. I checked out some awesome books:

The books I checked out at the library

I finally found some books on amigurumi at my library! The one in the middle, Amigurumi Animals, is pretty informative! It talks about the background of the word amigurumi, the history of Japanese dolls, and it shows you how to design your own amis. There are a couple of patterns, but none of them are particularly appealing to me. As for Toys to Crochet, it was mostly patterns and it didn't mention the word amigurumi, although I recognized the patterns being amigurumi-like (worked in spirals, begins with ch 2, etc). It had patterns for amigurumis, blocks, balls, and other toys. The book on the left is not about amigurumi, but it had alot of cool patterns that I might have to try. It's called The Chicks with Sticks Guide to Crochet.

When we went to Joann's I bought a size Q (16 mm) crochet hook and a roll of purple duct tape. I want to try to make a wallet out of the tape. I think I will use this tutorial. With the huge crochet hook, I plan on crocheting up some quick scarves for my family.

What I bought at Joanns

Today I made a Granny Square Pincushion. I got the idea from Squishy Cute Stuff, who sent me an e-mail with a link to this page. It was pretty easy, it only took me about 30 min. And you can have it, if you win my giveaway!

Okay, I announce the winner of my giveaway tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008. I'm so excited! I am going to put all your names into a bowl, shake it up, and pick a name!
If you win, you get all the goodies in the picture below :]

What you will get if you win!!!

I'm not asking a question in this post because I have no idea what to ask. LOL. Anyway, click here to learn how you can earn some more entries. But hurry! Because I will stop counting entries at 3 p.m. Pacific Time on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008.

(Sorry about the terrible pictures, it was late and the lighting was poor.)

P.S. I have to officially claim that I am in love with this and this. I plan on buying both when I have enough spending money. (Which will hopefully be very, very soon.)

Painting Ceramic Buildings...

I really have gotten into painting these little decorations! They're lots of fun.

A house done by my little brother...Another House...The top of the Light House
All of our paint brushes

They require A LOT of patience, because there are lots of little details like the "coffee shop" sign, the little doors, and the tiny bushes.

So that's pretty much what I've been doing. What have you been up to?

Oh, I almost forgot to mention my giveaway! Here's the deal: Be the first to answer it correctly, and you get an entry into my giveaway! Learn how you can get even more entries by clicking here. Alright, here's the question:

Update: Answered correctly by Apple of Art and Soul!
What are amigurumi?

I also added some more things to the giveaway:

Do Turkeys Gobble?

I don't really know... Do turkeys gobble or cluck? or are those chickens? ;]

Anyway, I made an amigurumi turkey from this pattern. It was fun to make, but the tail is kind of tedious. You're increasing for what seems like forever. Anyway, that's not important, what's important is that I'm giving it away for you to enjoy! If you win my giveaway, that is. I'm going to reveal the winner on Sunday, but I still have 2 more posts to go, which means two more opportunities to get an extra entry! Learn how you can get even more entries here.

You can win this:

The giveaway "loot" so far...

While I was taking that shot, my kittens were messing with the scarf:

The white one's name is Woo, the grey and white is named Pig (don't ask), and the black one is named Speedo. :]

This post's question is more like a poll. Answer the poll, and you get an entry into my giveaway!

Which do you prefer: Apple Pie or Pumpkin Pie?

More Grosgrain giveaways! She's like a sewing guru! :]
This time it's for two different giveaways, for a gift card and another for a Bo Peep and sheep costume.

Oh, and to you Blythe owners, what advice do you have to someone who wants to buy one? (Yeah, I'm thinking about buying one.)

The Revamping of a Pedal Go-Kart

Yes, well... The title says it all... I took apart a pedal go-kart, cleaned, greased, and painted it in the hopes that it would work better. It looks better and the pedals work smoother, but the tires have holes in them so even though everything else works now, the tires are flat, which means that it is very hard to pedal. Looks like I have to buy new tires, huh? The good thing is that it only took me 2 hours to do this whole thing, so not much time was wasted. But enough talk, see for yourself.

My twin brother and cousin didn't cover anything when they spray painted the go-kart. I know, aren't they smart? *rolls eyes*

Now for the giveaway part of this post!
To learn more about my giveaway, click here.

This post's question is:

Update: April got it right!
Who is Elizabeth Zimmerman and what is she known for?

Kind of a tough question, but one of you will pull through with the answer.

I've added a super-skinny scarf to the giveaway "loot!" Oh, and only 3 more posts until I announce the winner! Learn more about my giveaway here.

Speaking of giveaways, Tizzalicious is doing one! You can win some awesome earrings.

I am so forgetful...

We went trick or treating, and I didn't take any pictures because I forgot my camera.
No spooky Halloween pictures for this post! But here's some pictures of our Autumn decorations.

Pomegranates
Pomegranates, yummy! :]

Door Hanging: AutumnScarecrow by the Door
Autumn Decorations

Last year we started this tradition (is it a tradition if you started it last year?) of making construction-paper leaves and writing on them what we are thankful for. When we got out the seasonal decorations, there were our leaves. It was really cool to see what we had written.

Construction-Paper LeavesConstruction-Paper Leaves

We always hold the Thanksgiving meal at our house, and this year I think I will give a go at making an apple pie from scratch instead of buying one from Marie Calendar's. Do you have any experience baking pies? (I might have to make this little whim into a challenge with my aunt. She's been doing a lot of baking, but I don't think she's baked a pie...)

My uncle got a Wii Fit! Awesome. I have a Wii, but not a Wii Fit. It's really cool! When you step on it, it'll say in this high voice, "Measuring... Measuring... Measuring... All done!" It's a good workout. My favorite "game" is the Basic Step Aerobics exercise. It's like a step class, but funner :]

As always, Kathleen from Grosgrain is having another fantastic giveaway. *sigh* her giveaway makes mine look lame. ;] Just look at her latest, the Tree Frog Costume.

Okay! For this post's question, I decided to make it not related to any kind of craft. (That I know of!)
Update: Brook got it right!
What is the blue item in the photo below?

Hmm... What is it?

Okay, I have added some handmade paper to the giveaway prize! So far, you will get 4 items if you win: a crocheted pumpkin, Betty Boop sandals, a crocheted flower, and handmade paper.

Speaking of giveaway, you can learn more about it here.

P.S. Sorry about the moderation, but I had to put some kind of safeguard against spam!
You know how the never-ending battle against spam goes :(
