:] Couldn't think of a good post title

I've got a lot of stuff to write about, so this will be a long post. But this is probably among the last long posts, as I am starting school Tuesday. :( No more summer vacation for me!

I got the Idea for a monster amigurumi from the flickr group, "Amigurumi Monsters." So here is my ferocious monster, Bloop. yes, his name is Bloop. Like his name?
Bloop the purple monster
I also crocheted a amigurumi mermaid, from my own pattern. (Bloop was made from my own pattern, too.) Here she is! Like her hair? I think she looks pretty good for my first try at a mermaid. Do you have any ideas for her name?
Mermaid Amigurumi

Flickr stuff:

I started 2 new groups called 1 is called Octopus Crafts, and 1 is called Mermaid Amigurumi. Feel free to become a member of my groups and add your own pictures of mermaid amigurumi or octopus crafts! :] I also made a tutorial on how to do a single crochet stitch. Here it is:

I also did some watercolor painting with my little brother. Tell me what you think!
Water Color Painting

I found a pretty awesome quiz! after you finish the quiz it gives you a profile of yourself. I thought mine was pretty dead-on! try it out:

I also found some pretty awesome books at the library about crochet, weaving, and embroidery. I love the illustrations in the books. hmm... I checked them all out. The librarian must have thought I was a fabric freak or something. :]
I am trying out one of the projects in the weaving book, it's really fun! Here's what it looks like right now:

Tiny Cupcakes & Crocheted Cupcakes

Yesterday I made tiny lemon-flavored cupcakes. We have this tiny cupcake thing. I took a picture of it, but it turned out blurry, and by the time I realized that it was blurry, I was too lazy to take another picture.

Once the cupcakes were done, we poked holes in the cupcakes with straws and filled the holes with lime jello. Then we topped them with cream cheese frosting- mistake. They were supposed to be topped with whipped cream. Oh well.

Here's a crocheted cupcake:
Cupcake Amigurumi
I don't like the way it turned out. Any suggestions for my next cupcake? any patterns? I tried this pattern:
I think I messed something up... :(

Amigurumi Girl
Here's a success story! My first human amigurumi! YAY! This is what I am going to enter into bunzi's drawing. Here's the link so you can enter too. I followed this pattern:

Owl Softie
Here is my first softie! (I think that's what you call 'em) I followed this:

Baby Toy Amigurumi
Here's a toy that I made for my cousin Caleb- with my own pattern! (I made it up as I went along.) Originally, the red part was supposed to be the bottom, but my twin brother said it looked like a head so I kinda switched it. I think it would have looked better with the red as the bottom. (The white legs are where the head would have gone. but now the head is the red part.) Now I'm mad at him. (my twin brother) Oh well. tell me what you think!

Here is a piece of paper that I made! It was really cool to "make" paper.
here's the tutorial I (kinda) followed:

Blue Bird Amigurumi
Tweet, Tweet! This is a bird I made for my little brother. I think it is too tall. do you like it? here's the pattern I followed:

how do you like to start your amigurumi? I like to start with ch 2, then sc into it.
For some reason, I just can't get the magic ring right!

As of right now, I am working on a cupcake using this pattern. I also want to do this.

until later!

On having a little brother

Today I thought I would write about my little brother. He's five- starting school soon! When he was about 3 he was in LOVE with finding nemo. honestly, I have memorized that movie.
I love the part where marlin is trying to say a joke in front of the other parents

"You know, it's a common misconception, clown fish are no funnier than any other fish."-Marlin
"Fish are friends, not food!" -Bruce

This morning my mom made sausages and scrambled eggs for breakfast. As she was dishing out my little brother's food, he says, "only one rib, please." (he meant 1 sausage.)

he also calls the crust on bread "skin."

White Mouse Amigurumi
here's a project I finished this morning- white lab mouse! here's the pattern:

White Mouse Amigurumi
Here's the front of the mouse, I think the pink part of the left ear is bigger.

Pink Turtle Amigurumi
and slowly, here comes the turtle! pink top shell, purple under shell.
here's the pattern:

Intarsia knitting sampler: it says milk. I don't know why I chose the word milk. Weird, huh?

the yellow and red ones say dirty and clean. They are for a sign my mom is making for the dishwasher.

Olympics and Crocheting

The Olympics are up and running. Unfortunately, I missed the starting ceremonies. I heard it was spectacular! My favorite events are diving, synchronized swimming, and gymnastics.
I was totally AMAZED two days ago when Jason Lezac outstandingly came over the French in the last 50 meters to WIN the gold for the USA in the 4 X 100 m relay. Fantsatic! even MORE great after what the french were saying.

My knitting/crocheting projects!

Closeup of Red Octopus Amigurumi
Above is a octopus I crocheted, really simple I made it in less than 4 hours. (Pretty good considering I leraned how to crochet about a week ago.)

Above is a piece of intarsia knitting. I am not 100% happy with this piece of work I don't think I have the circle shape perfect- YET. I made it (btw, its a peace sign) for one of my friends who is a long-haired, flower-wearing hippie. LOL

Amigurumi Berries
Amigurumi berries! really quick projects- here's a great how-to video:

more pics of more projects later!
